Knowledge Exchange Program

June 2025
During the spring, Mudi has planned and organized a new activity that he calls the Knowledge Exchange Program. The idea is that the ambassadors will exchange knowledge with each other in their craft skills.
They will meet in a small group at each other's homes and then, with their new knowledge, they will spread it in their own villages to other young women.
Francine is a seamstress. She is the one who sews the products that I bring home and sell here. She has already started holding workshops for about five women at her home. First, Francine has gone through the sewing machine, the different parts and what they are called, and then shown how it works. The sewing machine is completely mechanical and you step on a plate to make it sew. Then they have to sew on paper following a dotted line, so they learn how to handle the sewing machine.
Then Josianne will teach how to tie plastic baskets. She is also the one who makes the plastic baskets that I sell here in Sweden.
Precious makes our sandals, which she will teach and Tina makes delicious Andazi and chapati, bread that is baked over an open fire. She will share that with us.
All the ambassadors are very enthusiastic and are looking forward to learning new crafts. But also to sharing what they already know, not only with each other, but also with young women in their villages.
What they also appreciate is getting to know each other! Often they only know their immediate surroundings, but now they have the chance to meet new friends to share their thoughts and experiences with.
