Conclution circus camp 2025

19/09/2025

We have now reached the end of our project together with Clowns Without Borders.

It has been three fantastic and intense weeks during which around 150 children have taken part in the circus camps in three different villages. Two performances have been held where some of the children performed traditional dances, the ambassadors contributed with acrobatics and comedy, and Mudi and the author shared their skills!

Workshops have been arranged for women, Mamas, about children’s rights and, not least, it is the wonderful and talented ambassadors who have led the circus camps with the children. The activities are greatly appreciated. This is especially clear when walking through the village and the children call out the names and say, “Oh, now we’re going to learn more things!”

Or when parents come and ask to have their children included in the camps.

Or when new children arrive with a note where the parents have written their names, believing that this is all that is needed to join the circus camps.

Or when the children are asked what was good and what was bad, and they say that the only bad thing was that it didn’t last more days. Or when the new mats arrived and the children went wild with joy.

Or that it had been much more fun than they had expected.

Or seeing the Mamas, even some of the older ones, running, playing and laughing!

Or how the younger Mamas were positively surprised to see the older Mamas running, laughing and playing!

Or how much the Mamas appreciated the open conversations about their children.

Or that the greatest proof of all is that there has been so much laughter and joy during these weeks!

There is deep gratitude for the Center here in Rubona, Gisenyi, where activities will continue for both children and Mamas to promote well-being, and for the ambassadors in other villages who will also continue this work of spreading well-being. And this is only the beginning!
