The joy of children - The way to humanity and peace

Report from Mudi;

On October 25, 2025, we gathered in Gisenyi, in the Nyamyumba sector, Rubona cell, for a day together with children from the countryside. A day filled with laughter, dance, play and community. The children were happy to have a place where they could meet, have fun and feel free.

We have started an initiative that helps the children understand themselves better and gives them knowledge for the future – through education, creativity and shared learning. Before the day’s activities began, each child was asked to write down how the day had been. By reflecting on their experiences, they learn that their lives are stories – stories worth remembering and sharing. The aim is to encourage them to create good stories through their actions, so that future generations can read them and be inspired.

It was moving to see the children’s joy and engagement. When they sat quietly and thought about what they had done during the day, it was almost possible to see their pride grow. Soon other children – those who usually attend school on weekends – also began to hear about the initiative. They came and asked to join on Sundays, so that they too would have the opportunity to learn, play and create.

And so it was. On Sunday, October 26, 2025, a new group of children was welcomed. They got to experience things they had never done before – invent their own games, dance, cooperate and dare to try new things. Their joy was so great that they did not want to go home! In the end, a promise had to be made to meet again the following Sunday at 1:00 p.m. They were asked first to help their parents at home, to show respect and responsibility – just as important a part of learning as play and knowledge.

When the day was over and the journey home had begun, three children appeared who were not yet known. They ran up and gave a hug. They explained that they were on their way to church and that one of the ambassadors, who is now expecting a child, had had to stop teaching for a while. Their concern was deeply touching. A promise was made to find a way for them to continue learning and having fun together even during that time.

In moments like these, it becomes clear:

Children’s joy is the path to humanity, peace and a better future. 🌱
